WNBA DFS lineup advice for Wednesday, July 29th

Update 11:30 a.m.: Glory Johnson has been listed by the Dream as eligible for tonight. Her DFS salary is $7,300. We’ll have her replace Angel McCoughtry below, and save the $2,900 in salary cap for another player.

The WNBA has had an exciting level of play in The Wubble so far. Through nine games in Bradenton there’s a league-wide average of 124.3 points per 100 possessions, meaning the offense has been ahead of the defense. There are four teams that are over 140 in offensive rating, but none of those teams are in the half of the league in action tonight.

The Phoenix Mercury looked like they were having trouble gelling in their debut, but they’ll get what looked like the worst team in the league through the first game in the Indiana Fever tonight. Sabrina Ionescu enters her second game after an up-and-down debut for the New York Liberty against the Dallas Wings, and the Atlanta Dream appeared to be short-handed but got a nice win in their opener, and they face the Las Vegas Aces.

We take a look at the lineups and see what’s available, and make some picks to help fill out your DFS roster.

Guard: Sabrina Ionescu ($8,100)

Now that the nerves are behind her, expect a better game out of the future Rookie of The Year against a much easier opponent in the Dallas Wings than she faced in her debut against the favorites the Seattle Storm. Despite a 4-17 from the floor with four turnovers, she still racked up 25.5 DFS points. Expect a bigger number than that this evening.

Forward: Angel McCoughtry ($10,200)

She was horribly mis-priced at $5000 in her DFS debut with the Las Vegas Aces, but tonight the two-time Olympic gold medalist has a reason to be at premium as she faces the Atlanta Dream she left after 11 seasons in free agency for the first time. After scoring 25 points in 26 minutes in the opener against the Chicago Sky, you can bet head coach Bill Laimbeer will give her the green light tonight. This could be a 50 point DFS performance.

Flex: Diana Taurasi ($7,400)

The Mercury really struggled to be in sync with Skylar Diggins-Smith despite her solid numbers in her debut with the team, but in the second half you could see The Bun start to assert herself more offensively to keep her team in it. It’s the first time “D” has had to play without the ball in her hands whenever she wants it in the WNBA, and there’s going to be an adjustment. But with the Indiana Fever looking pretty bad in the opener, expect the best women’s basketball player ever to get hers when needed tonight.
