The Seattle Seahawks made a major move over the weekend by acquiring Jamal Adams from the New York Jets via trade. The star safety is expected to improve a Seattle defense that forked up 24.9 points per game in 2019. While the Seahawks might not return to their “Legion of Boom” days, Adams’ presence bodes well for their Super Bowl odds and division title odds. Let’s break down how their chances haves been adjusted on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Before trading for Adams Seattle’s Super Bowl odds were at +2200, but that mark has moved to +2000. Seattle has the eighth best odds and is even with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Kansas City Chiefs (+600), Baltimore Ravens (+650), San Francisco 49ers (+1000), New Orleans Saints (+1200), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1400), Dallas Cowboys (+1700), and New England Patriots (+1700) round out the top seven.
Adams wasn’t enough to make the Seahawks the favorite to win the NFC West, but their odds did improve from +225 to +200. The 49ers (+100) are still on top following last year’s Super Bowl run and are expected to be a force with a ton of key pieces returning on both sides of the ball. This trade, however, tightens up what was already going to be a fun divisional race.
