A UFC veteran with more than eight years experience in the promotion missed weight for the first time today on Fight Island. Lightweight Francisco Trinaldo of Brazil came in at 160 lbs. for his 156 lbs. weight limit bout against Jai Herbert, schedule as the final fight on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN 14 tomorrow evening.
Trinaldo is 41 years of age with 22 previous UFC fights, and has never missed weight before. He often needs to cut a ton of weight to make it, and it looks like it caught up to him here. He’ll be forfeiting either 20% or 30% of his purse to Herbert for the fight, and will be ineligible for any Fight of The Night or Performance of The Night bonuses on the card.
With a record of 25-7 in MMA, and a 15-6 UFC mark, Trinaldo enters the fight as a -134 favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook as of now, down from a -177 number earlier this week.
Herbert is a +108 underdog, and was +140 as of just Monday. The Englishman from Wolverhampton is 10-1 in MMA, and the former Cage Warriors champion at 155 is making his UFC debut.
