The 3M Open is into its first afternoon, and we already have a big withdrawal. Pre-tournament favorite Dustin Johnson has withdrawn due to a back injury. He completed his first round finishing +7 for the day.
Johnson entered the tournament with the shortest odds at DraftKings Sportsbook. He was installed at +1200 to win, and was tied with Tony Finau at +2000 for odds to lead after round 1. Johnson had the fifth largest handle on his money line odds and third largest handle to lead after round 1. He was also owned in 19 percent of entries in the DraftKings Millionaire contest.
Finau is currently tied for the lead at -6, alongside Ryan Moore, Xinjun Zhang, and Nick Watney. All but 18 golfers have teed off their first round at TPC Twin Cities.
Johnson has one win under his belt since the Tour restart, winning the Travelers Championship. He tied for 17th at the RBC Heritage and missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge and last week’s Memorial Tournament.
