Seattle will drop the puck for its expansion team next year, and the team now has a name. The team will be called the Kraken and will begin play in the 2021-2022 season.
The name and logos were developed in part based on the city’s location near the Pugent Sound. The S is meant to reflect the old Seattle Metropolitans teams, while the secondary anchor logo reflects the sea-going ways of the city. The colors are meant to reflect Pugent Sound.
Here is the team’s unveil video, followed by a look at the team’s home and away jerseys, and finally the primary logo, secondary logo, and wordmark.
A legend from the deep awakens.
