Tale of the tape for Bethe Correia vs. Pannie Kianzad

Bethe Correia and Pannie Kianzad square off in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night from Fight Island on July 25th. We break down the odds.

A veteran of the women’s bantamweight division faces a relative newcomer as Bethe Correia takes on Pannie Kianzad live from UFC on ESPN 14 this Saturday on Fight Island in the Flash Forum in Abu Dhabi.

Correia has been getting under the skin of opponents in the UFC for seven years now, but still hasn’t achieved much success. She enters this fight ranked #13 in the division, but for someone that has had chances against names like Ronda Rousey (first round KO) and Holly Holm (third round KO, 180 medical suspension required), she’s never found the big win to propel her to the top. Her 11-4-1 record only has two stoppage wins, though she lands 4.47 strikes per minute.

Kianzad is 12-5, and also doesn’t have much stopping power with just three knockouts in her career. She’s split her first two fights in the UFC, both via unanimous decision. Her win over Jessica-Rose Clark in November was the first for the Iranian that fights out of Sweden. She lands 4.03 strikes per minute and has completed only one takedown in 30 minutes of octagon time so far.
