Two featherweights with outstanding records get back in the octagon on Saturday when Movsar Evloev faces Mike Grundy at UFC on ESPN 14 live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
Evolev is undefeated at 12-0, taking unanimous decision wins over Seung Woo Choi and Enrique Barzola in his first two UFC fights. The 26-year-old Russian has seven career stoppages, and had 10 fights in the M-1 Challenge promotion before switching to UFC in 2019. His 4.3 strikes per minute are impressive, but so are the nine completed takedowns he’s engineered in 30 minutes of octagon time. He’s also only been taken off his feet once since joining the promotion.
Grundy is 12-1 in his career, and won his UFC debut March of 2019 but hasn’t fought since due to injury and Covid-19 shuttering his fight scheduled for UFC London. The Wigan native fights out of the same Team Kaobon stable as the main eventer on this card, Darren Till. His only UFC appearance so far was a second-round TKO of Nad Narimani. The former Commonwealth Games wrestling medalist and Cage Warriors champion at featherweight is 33 years old.
