How NASCAR race order will be set Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway

We break down the starting order for Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The NASCAR Cup Series’ O’Reilly Auto Parts is set wrap up a weekend of action Sunday at 3:00 p.m ET. The race will take place at Texas Motor Speed way and will be aired on NBCSN.

The starting grid for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 is determined by random draws that account for where each driver stands in the points race. Here’s how the starting order for Sunday’s race will be determined.

  • Positions 1-12: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 13-24: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 25-36: Random draw from charter teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 37-40: Open, non-chartered teams in order of owners points

Aric Almirola won the draw for the pole position and will be joined by Ryan Blaney on the front row. They’ll be followed by Kurt and Kyle Busch in row 2, and Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski in row three.

Harvick is the Cup Series points leader and the favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook at +300. He’s on a roll right now and has notched five straight top five finishes. He’s trailed by sixth place Denny Hamlin (+600) and 11th place Kyle Busch (+650), who is still looking for his first Cup Series win of the season. Almirola (+2000) is looking for his first victory of the current campaign.
