The Memorial DFS Showdown picks for Round 2 at Muirfield Village

After the first 18 holes at The Memorial, it’s clear that the course is a bit more challenging for the second of these back-to-back weekends. Who can take advantage of the tougher conditions?

The Showdown Challenge for today uses just the scores from Round 2 of the event. And the weather shouldn’t be a concern as it’s supposed to be 90 degrees and sunny in Dublin, Ohio tomorrow. So who’s going to go low?

Rory McIlroy ($10,200)

He’s $200 more than yesterday, but his four birdies and two bogeys yesterday still give him value. Playing with Tiger Woods (-1) and Brooks Koepka (Even) doesn’t hurt either. His bomb and gouge game sets up perfectly for both fantasy (birdies help more than bogeys hurt) and this course.

Sergio Garcia ($8,000)

A flawless round for DFS purposes: four birdies, a bogey, and a triple. We’ll take it! A bit pricier than yesterday, but he can still go low, and if you take away his putting it in the water on 12 and the bombing it over the green with his drop, he played well. Still value here.

Matt Kuchar ($7,700)

He can pay you better than he tips today, as he’s one the best Round 2 players on tour. His +4 in Round 1 means he’ll have to play well to make the weekend, but he’s been in the 60’s in each of his last five second rounds on Tour, and since 2011 he’s got four Top 5’s at The Memorial with a win in 2013.

Jordan Spieth ($7,500)

It was a matter of when, not if, his refashioned swing would be ready for primetime. He might have gotten closer to it with a -2 for the opening round. And in typical Spieth fashion he did it his way: Eagle, three birdies, a bogey and a double (in the water on #12). He’s always been great for DFS, and can get in contention tomorrow. Finished third here in 2015, and seventh last year.
