Update 5:55 p.m.: Jack Shore is now a -770 favorite, receiving 82% of the handle and 89% of the tickets. That means Aaron Phillips is now a +500 underdog with 18% of handle and 11% of bets.
An undefeated bantamweight top prospect gets a last-minute opponent as Jack Shore takes on Aaron Phillips at UFC on ESPN 13 live from Fight Island tonight in the United Arab Emirates.
Shore is 12-0 in his career with 11 stoppages, and choked out Nohelin Hernandez in his UFC debut last September which he dominated statistically (strikes 46-6, takedowns 4-0). The former Cage Warriors champion is 25 years old, and was scheduled to fight Anderson dos Santos on this card, but a positive Covid-19 test kept that from happening and the change was made July 5th.
Phillips is 12-3 with eight career stoppages, winning five in a row as he heads to Abu Dhabi. He returns to the octagon for the first time after two unanimous decision losses in 2014 saw him cut from the promotion. A nearly three-year break from fights from 2015 and 2018 has done Phillips well, and he hasn’t lost and has four stoppages since his pause.
