Two welterweight prospects will fight it out looking to reach the division rankings soon when Abdul Razak Alhassan faces Mounir Lazzez at UFC on ESPN 13.
Alhassan is fighting for the first time in two years, his career sidelined after he was charged with sexual assault. He was found not guilty of all charges in March of this year, and the 34-year-old returns with a record of 10-1 and all 10 wins by KO or TKO. He’s 4-1 in the UFC with all four victories coming via first round knockout, and his only loss a split decision to Omari Akhmedov. He’s averaged 4.59 strikes per round in the UFC, and has attempted only one takedown in the promotion.
Lazzez is Tunisian, but generally fights in Dubai. Apparently someone he knows ran into Dana White in a restaurant, and that’s how he got discovered. He’s listed as having a 9-1 career record, and here’s a highlight tape that impressed White.
