An undefeated bantamweight takes on a last-minute replacement opponent making a return to UFC when Jack Shore faces Aaron Phillips at UFC on ESPN 13 live from Fight Island tonight in the United Arab Emirates.

Shore is the biggest favorite on tonight’s card at -715, with Phillips coming in at +475.
The Welshman Shore is 12-0 in his career with 11 stoppages (four KO/TKO’s, seven submissions), and choked out Nohelin Hernandez in his UFC debut last September which he dominated statistically and scored a massive 121 DFS points. He landed 46 blows while taking only six, and had all four takedowns in the bout. The former Cage Warriors champion was scheduled to fight Anderson dos Santos tonight, but a positive Covid-19 test forced the change on July 5th.
Phillips is 12-3 with eight career stoppages and has won five in a row as he heads to Abu Dhabi. The 30-year-old returns to the octagon after two unanimous decision losses in 2014 that got him cut. A nearly three-year break between 2015 and 2018 has done Phillips well, who hasn’t lost and has four stoppages since his pause.
There’s insults, there’s affronts, and then there’s not even being valued at $7,000 in an MMA DFS contest. Shore seems in line to certainly be the winner here, but is he worth the huge overlay? Seven of Shore’s stoppages have been by submission, but Phillips has never tapped out in his MMA career.
We like Shore to win and certainly score, but the price might be a bit too prohibitive here. You likely need a first round stoppage to make this worthwhile, and Shore has needed until the third round to end his last three fights. His huge activity might make up for the difference, but this is a talented opponent that has been in the UFC before. We’ll have Shore on some rosters, but not all of them.
