It’s a flyweight battle between #12 Tim Elliott and Ryan Benoit in the flyweight division on Fight Island at UFC on ESPN 13 this Wednesday. This fight is happening in the UAE because it’s not allowed in Nevada as Ryan Benoit is apparently under suspension in the state, but that hasn’t been confirmed anywhere but by his opponent.
Elliott is 15-11-1 with three KO’s, six submissions, and six wins via the judges. He’s 2-5 since joining the UFC, with a two-year layoff between December of 2017 and October of 2019. His last three fights are losses: He tapped out via arm-triangle to Brandon Royval on May 30th, and lost unanimous decision to Askar Askarov plus a first-round choke by Deiveson Figueiredo before that.
Benoit has also struggled since joining the UFC, with a 3-4 mark in the promotion. He had a two-year absence from November 2017 until December 2019, where he lost to Heili Alateng in a split decision. He’s not a particularly active fighter either, averaging just 2.8 strikes per minute landed. This is the rare co-main event where both fighters might be scrapping to keep themselves in the UFC.
