A month ago, Collin Morikawa lost a heartbreaking playoff to Daniel Berger at the Charles Schwab Challenge. On Sunday, he found redemption with a playoff win over Justin Thomas at the Workday Charity Open. It marked his first win since winning the Barracuda Championship in July 2019.

Morikawa was trailing by three strokes after Thomas scored an eagle on the 15th hole. However, Thomas collapsed on the final three holes with a pair of bogies. Morikawa birdied 17 and that was enough to force a tie and the playoff. They traded pars on the first two holes before Thomas bogied on the third playoff hole to lose.

Thomas entered the tournament as the favorite at +1100, while Morikawa was sitting at +3000. Morikawa had the lowest score in round 1 (+4000 to accomplish that feat) and the second lowest score in round 2. He looked to be cruising before an even par third round dropped him behind Thomas. Morikawa put together the third best round on Sunday to close out the tie and force the playoff.
