FINAL UPDATE: The cut line settled at -2. 67 players made the cut.
The PGA Tour teed off the second round of the 2020 Workday Charity Open on Friday at 6:50 a.m. ET. The day began with Collin Morikawa atop the leaderboard with a -7 on Thursday. He entered Friday with a one shot lead on Adam Hadwin, and a two-shot lead on Nick Taylor, Hideki Matsuyama, Zach Johnson, and Aaron Wise.
Morikawa is off to a solid start, two under for the day. Hadwin tees off at 12:37 p.m., and has already been matched or passed by golfers on the front nine. Andrew Putnam has four straight birdies to open his first four holes and is now in second place at -7.
Half of the field has not teed off as of this article first publishing, and so we have a ways to go today before we know the final cut line. Potentially over half the field will be cut by the end of Friday, setting the field for the final two rounds.
How is the cut line determined?
The cut line at 36 holes is the top 65 players plus those tied at the end of that group. Some tournaments will have a second cut after day three (54 holes) if that initial group is 78 total players, but the Rocket Mortgage Classic does not appear to have that.
What is the cut line for the Workday Charity Open?
9:58 a.m.: The cut line is locked in at -2. There are currently 67 golfers making the cut with two golfers at -2 still on the course. Even if both drop to -1, we’d have the minimum 65.
Sat 9:37 a.m.: The cut line remains at -2 with play resumed at 9 a.m.
8:50 p.m.: Round 2 was suspended at 8:50 p.m. It will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the cut line sitting at -2.
8:40 p.m.: The cut line has moved to -2, and we have the minimum 65 golfers making it at the moment.
8:15 p.m.: The cut line remains at -1 with the last golfers into the back nine.
6:55 p.m.: The cut line remains at -1 with 21 golfers still finishing up the front nine. We’ve got some time to go.
6:02 p.m.: The cut line remains at -1. There are currently 71 golfers projected to make the cut.
4:40 p.m.: The round resumed at 4 p.m. and the cut line remains -1.
3:15 p.m.: The second round was delayed once again at 2:44 p.m. The cut line remains -1.
2:20 p.m.: The second round restarted at 1:01 p.m., and the projected cut line remains at -1. There are currently 70 golfers making the cut, with 14 at -1 and 16 at even.
12:52 p.m.: Play was suspended just before the last update. The cut line remains at -1.
11:50 a.m.: The projected cut has moved to -1, with 69 golfers making it through for the time being. There are 15 golfers at -1 and 18 at even par.
As of 9:40 a.m. on Friday, the cut line is even and 86 golfers are projected to make the cut. 21 golfers are currently at even, and another 21 are at +1. The morning tee times are complete, and the next round of tee times start at 12:15 p.m. 82 golfers will tee off between 12:15 and 2:38 p.m.
Who is not projected to make the cut?
Sat 9:37 a.m.: J.J. Spaun is on the final hole at -2 and five golfers are still on the course at -1.
8:40 p.m.: Xander Schauffele and Brandt Snedeker both drop out of the weekend with this cut line.
8:15 p.m.: Jhonattan Vegas closed at even. Luke Donald and Jerry Kelly are both at even for the tournament after solid Fridays, and have a few holes remaining to get to -1.
6:02 p.m.: Jordan Spieth finished even for the day and is event through two rounds. Jon Rahm had a pair of front nine birdies and is now -2 heading into the back nine. Brooks Koepka added another bogie and is at +4 heading into the back nine.
4:38 p.m.: Rahm is even for the day through four holes, Koepka is +1 through four holes to move to +3, and Rose is even through two holes leaving him at +2.
3:15 p.m.: 42 golfers have yet to tee off for the second round. Brooks Koepka was through one hole with a par to sit at +2, while Justin Rose was just getting ready to tee off his round, also sitting at +2.
2:20 p.m.: The back half of the field began teeing off at 1:30 p.m., with Jon Rahm just now getting underway. Jhonattan Vegas bogied on his first hole out and sits at +1. Jim Furyk is on fire coming into his final hole, with a four-under getting him to -1 for the tournament.
12:52 p.m.: The first afternoon tee times were pushed back 75 minutes from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
11:50 a.m.: Adam Long is having a rough day, at four over through 13 to drop to even par. Charles Howell III is two over for the day to drop to +1 through 14. Sungjae Im is just inside the cut line at -1 for the day and the tournament through 13.
Brooks Koepka and Justin Rose are both +2 and on the outside looking in, but don’t tee off until this afternoon. Bubba Watson finished +7 on Thursday and has his work cut out for him when he tees off at 1:21 p.m. Patrick Reed is currently making the cut at -2, but he is +2 for the day through 7, so he is not moving in the right direction.
