The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and even amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, one tradition will continue. The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating contest will take place, albeit at an undisclosed private location. And for the first time, you can now legally bet on the contest at DraftKings Sportsbook!

Traditionally the event takes place on Coney Island outside the Nathan’s Famous flagship restaurant and is aired on ESPN. This year, it will be in a private location, but still broadcast on ESPN.

Joey Chestnut returns to defend his title as 13-time champion. He won his first title in 2007, upending six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi, and has won every year since. Last year, he consumed 71 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, three short of his world record set in 2018. Darron Breeden came in second with 50 hot dogs and buns consumed.

Miki Sudo returns looking to win her seventh straight mustard belt. She has won every year since upsetting Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas in 2014. Sudo consumed 31 hot dogs and buns last year, two years removed from her women’s record 41 hot dogs and buns. Michelle Lesco finished in second with 26.5 hot dogs and buns consumed.

DraftKings will be offering both odds and a free-to-play pool with $25,000 in prize money. The gaming boards in New Jersey, Colorado, and New Hampshire have all approved wagering on the event. Chestnut has opened as a heavy favorite, currently sitting at -835 to win, while any other male participant is +450. Sudo is installed at -500, with any other female participant at +300.

You can also bet on total hot dogs eaten by Chestnut and Sudo. Chestnut’s over/under is set at 72.5, with the over price at +100 and the under price at -139. Sudo’s over/under is set at 37.5, with the over price at +110 and the under price at -155.

UPDATE: We’re seeing movement in the totals market. Chestnut’s over is now priced at -125 and his under is priced at -112. Sudo’s over/under was moved up to 40.5. The over is priced at -139 and the under is priced at +100.
