Borussia Dortmund and Hertha start a match Saturday at 12:30 a.m. ET on FS2. Hertha isn’t in the hunt for a title, but Dortmund is seven points back from first place Bayern Munich. We break down the ideal lineup strategy for Showdown contests on DraftKings below. Set your lineups here.
Captain’s Picks
Jadon Sancho, M/F, Dortmund ($18,900)
Sancho notched a hat trick when he played a full 90 minutes for the first time since February in his last match. He was being eased into things as he recovered from injury last month but appears to be in top form now. Erling Haaland is recovering from a knee injury and is listed as questionable for the match, but it seems clear that Sancho is in better shape at this point in time.
Thorgan Hazard, M/F, Dortmund ($15,300)
Hazard two goals and three assists since May 16th and could continue to be a larger part of Dortmund’s offense should Haaland continue to miss time. He’s second to Sancho in assists (13) but could be asked to carry some of the scoring load as well.
Flex Plays
Vladimir Darida, M, Hertha ($7,000)
Matheus Cunha is still dealing with a concussion, and that makes Darida Hertha’s most important offensive player. He’s has the ability to score and distribute, but most of his upside will likely come from his crossing. He’s usually a lock to tally more than 10 DKFP if he reaches double-digits in crosses, and he’s done that in three of his last six games.
Roman Burki, GK, Dortmund ($7,400)
Dortmund has allowed the third fewest goals (35) in the Bundesliga. Cunha might not be Hertha’s top scorer, but he had scored two goals in three games before suffering his concussion. Hertha also won’t have left back Marvin Plattenhardt, who is also dealing with a concussion. The defender is responsible for playing in a decent portion of Hertha’s crosses. Hertha will by far from full strength and should struggle against one of the best defenses in the league.
