How the race order will be set for Saturday’s Vet Tix Camping World 200 Truck Series race

NASCAR’s Truck Series is back for its second race of the restarted season, on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. We’ve got a look at how race order is being determined for the Vet Tix Camping World 200.

NASCAR returns to action this Saturdat at Atlanta Motor Speedway for the a quick two-day stretch of racing. The Cup Series race is on Sunday, but Saturday brings a double-header of trucks and cars. The Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series is running the Vet Tix Camping World 200 at 1 p.m. ET on FSI, and the Xfinity Series is running the EchoPark 250 at 4:30 p.m. on FOX.

This marks the second Truck Series race since Kyle Busch won the Strat 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on February 21st. He finished second last week at the NC Education Lottery 200, behind Chase Elliott.

NASCAR will not hold traditional qualifying runs through the Talladega races June 20th and 21st. To cut down on events and attempt to protect health and safety, the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series are using random draws connected to points standings. The Truck Series will use a similar process to the Cup Series, drawing randomly from three groups to figure out spots 1-10, 11-21, and 22-32. Here is how the starting grid will be determined for Saturday’s Vet Tix Camping World 200

  • Positions 1-10: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 11-21: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 22-32: Random draw of teams in those positions in owner points
  • Any vehicles that are eligible for the Event in position 33rd – 40th will be assigned starting positions based on their order of eligibility.

The draw has Christian Eckes in the pole position, followed by Tyler Ankrum, Brett Moffitt, and Austin Hill. DraftKings Sportsbook has installed Kyle Busch as the favorite at -143, followed by Chase Elliott at +350. There’s a sizable drop-off from there, with Ross Chastain at +1400 and Brett Moffitt at +1600.
