Basketball is looking at a return at the end of July, so DraftKings Sportsbook has posted updated championship lines. Let’s take a look.

Basketball is almost back people! I can feel it deep in my plums! So with the NBA reportedly getting approval from the Board of Governors on a return plan, we’ve got title odds back on DraftKings Sportsbook. Obviously there’s a lot to factor in with the long layoff and the new playoff format for the restart. Let’s take a look at the current championship odds on DKSB.

So I placed the odds from back and May compared to where they sit now. There aren’t many differences but a few to point out. The top three teams — Lakers, Bucks and Clippers — remained unchanged. The Rockets also stayed the same but behind them there are a few teams that dropped a bit. The Celtics and Raptors odds dipped slightly along with the Heat and Sixers. This could have something to do with the Lakers, Clips and Bucks being fully rested. It was hard to envision one of those teams not coming out on top and now they’ll be tough to beat at full-strength.

Moving down the line, the Raptors and Sixers odds dropping is perplexing. Both teams get a big boost from players becoming 100% healthy. The Raptors were ravaged by injuries during the season and don’t have to worry about that during their title defense. The Sixers get a healthy Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid to head into the playoffs. Philly never really figured it out but I’ll remind people of that Christmas Day Game, which seems so long ago. That will over Milwaukee still looms after all we’ve been through to get here.

Despite being in the best playoff position among low-end teams, the Grizzlies have worse title odds than both the Pelicans and Trail Blazers. This is likely a result of the rosters. The books believe more in the ability of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Jrue Holiday; Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum and Hassan Whiteside, over Ja Morant and the Grizz. It makes sense.
