Borussia Mönchengladbach and SC Freiburg will face off Friday at 2:30 a.m. ET on FS2. Mönchengladbach is in fourth and could jump to third by the time the weekend is up. Freiburg, on the other hand, hasn’t won a game since February and is looking to gain some momentum.
DraftKings Sportsbook has the odds and betting splits ahead of matchday. We break down the numbers here.
Mönchengladbach is favored by a small margin (+136) and has found a rhythm since losing Breel Embolo to injury in mid-May match. Alassane Plea and Marcus Thuram have combined well up front as scorers and creators. The duo has totaled six goals and three assists since the Bundesliga’s restart and will be up against a Freiburg team that’s been reluctant to attack.
Freiburg (+335) has drawn twice and lost twice since May 16th and was ultra-defensive early on against Bayer Leverkusen in its last match. It’s hard to see them keeping up offensively as one of the less productive scoring teams in the league. Adopting a more aggressive style early could make them more competitive, but would also open them up to counterattacks. Freiburg has been in poor form, and I can’t see them turning that around against a top five defense.
Mönchengladbach has an overwhelming 92 percent of the handle and the support of 84% of the bettors. Freiburg has 4 percent of the handle and is backed by just 11 percent of bettors. Bettors have placed 4 percent of the handle on a draw (+285) and 5 percent of bettors are banking on the game ending in a tie.
