We’re halfway through the week, and DraftKings will have classic contests available for Thursday’s five-game KBO slate. We go over the top plays at each position ahead for the action, and you can set your lineup here.
Pitcher: Eric Jokisch, Kiwoom Heroes ($9,500)
Jokisch is among the league leaders in wins (4), ERA (.90) and WHIP (.87). He hasn’t given up any home runs and has walked five batters in 30 innings. The Hanwha Eagles have the least hits (207) and runs (91) in the KBO. That makes me high on one of the league’s most consistent pitchers. He was top 10 in WHIP (1.13) and strikeouts (135) last year and is off to a strong start in 2020.
Catcher: Dong Won Park, Kiwoom Heroes ($4,200)
Park has been more productive than Eui Ji Yang ($5,800) across the board and is significantly cheaper as well. Neither player is on a hot streak, so I’d opt for the cheaper option.
First Base: Jae Il Oh, Doosan Bears ($3,800)
Oh went hitless in two games after returning from injury in May but has since gone on a four-game hitting streak. Min Kim has more walks (15) than strikeouts (12). Attacking the KT Wiz’s pitching should be ideal in this slate for that reason. Oh is one of the more consistent players when it comes to getting on base.
Second Base: Sang Su Kim, Samsung Lions ($4,700)
Kim has had a solid series against the LG Twins with five hits in eight at-bats. His OBP .469 is still toward the top in the KBO, and he’s been doing a great job getting the ball rolling as a leadoff hitter. The Lions trounced Casey Kelly Wednesday and finished with 12 runs. That offensive momentum could carry over into Thursday and help them sweep the series convincingly. Paying up for a stud like Jose Fernandez ($6,200) is also a solid option against weak KT Wiz pitching.
Shortstop: Ha Seong Kim, Kiwoom Heroes ($6,100)
Kim is easily the most productive shortstop in the slate but comes at a hefty price. His ceiling is high, but he’s streaky. His four home runs and 17 RBIs in 19 games are promising, and he bats second for the Heroes — meaning he gets plenty of opportunities at the plate. Sun Bin Kim ($4,200) is a more affordable target you should take a look at because of his .359 batting average and .438 OBP.
Third Base: Jeong Choi, SK Wyverns ($4,300)
Choi has now notched six straight double-digit outings in fantasy points but has seen his price drop. While he’s up against the most expensive pitcher in the slate, the Wyverns have been trending in the right direction offensively as of late.
Outfield: Hyo Ryung Kim, Kia Tigers ($3,400)
Kim has tallied three hits in eight at-bats with three RBIs and three runs since making his late-May season debut. He’s batting leadoff and has amassed 44 DKFP already. If you’re looking for a switch up from the regular expensive options, Kim is your man.
Outfield: Jae Hwan Kim, Doosan Bears ($5,900)
I’m big on the Bears in this slate, so I can’t leave out the team’s best power hitter. While he’s batting .275, he’s also tallied five home runs and 21 RBIs.The cleanup hitter should be a priority on Thursday.
