Starting pitcher rankings for 2020 fantasy baseball

Welcome to the 2020 MLB season! It’s here? Well, a version of baseball is hopefully here for 60 regular season games. There’s still a month to go until the first games are played which is plenty of time for the earth to be taken over by the Legless Lizard People. But, we will continue to act like baseball and more importantly, fantasy baseball will happen.

A 60 game season with players possibly missing time due to being quarantined, could be a huge dumpster barge fire. But here at DraftKings Nation, we are the positive, happy people! Let’s do this thing!

You likely won’t see any of the top starting pitchers on my team, as I rather go with hitters early and streaming starters is a strategy I often use. Coupling later round pitchers with flexibility to stream is the main strategy I use, but there is no doubt that these top guys are absolute studs.

Gerrit Cole is the no-doubt No. 1. If you like investing in a top tier pitcher, Cole is the guy, but the top two tiers of pitchers are strong and if you are sold on grabbing one, I’d lean toward waiting for the ends of the top two tiers.

Cole to Shane Bieber makes up my first tier and Maz Scherzer to Steven Strasburg make up my second tier. With a shortened season, we don’t have to worry too much about resting pitchers like Walker Buehler and Strasburg, which makes grabbing them a little easier.
