Captain’s Pick
Bam Adebayo ($13,800)
Pound-for-pound, dollar-for-dollar, I think Bam is the best Captain’s pick out of this loaded Showdown. Obviously we have a few other high-profile players in Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Jimmy Butler. All three are expensive and really Kawhi is the only one with a better ceiling than Bam. The first-time All-Star has triple-double potential in his box scores and that’s what we’re trying to hit on here.
Fade of the Game
Jimmy Butler ($15,900 CP)
I mentioned Butler above as an elite option, which he is. The problem for me is his price and the volatility in his performances this season. He’s dealt with some injuries, some personal issues that held him out of a few games. When he’s playing, the minutes are there, but the production isn’t what we’re used to seeing from Jimmy Buckets. At least in terms of fantasy. So I’d rather not pay up here when we have three other good options.
Value Picks
Reggie Jackson ($1,600) — So most of Jackson’s box scores are from his time starting at PG for the Pistons this season. We get a really, really discounted price on a player that has starter upside. Jackson was playing around 20-25 minutes per night for Detroit and should be able to return value on this salary easily.
Chris Silva ($1,000) — Silva is dirt cheap and has actually played a decent amount of garbage time for the Heat this season. He’s appeared in 41 games, and while his production isn’t what we normally look for, we don’t need Silva to do much to return value at this salary. He also allows us to fit in a few of the studs that were mentioned above.
