Brendan Allen gets a last minute replacement at middleweight when he faces undefeated Kyle Daukaus at UFC on ESPN 12 tonight. Ian Heinisch was Allen’s originally scheduled opponent but he withdrew, so does that leave fantasy value on his newcomer opponent?
DraftKings DFS Values
Brendan Allen: $9,200
Kyle Daukaus: $7,000
Allen is -305 on the money line, with the underdog Daukaus at +235.
Allen is 14-3 in MMA, earned his contract with a first-round submission in Dana White’s Contender Series, and has won both his UFC fights over Kevin Holland and Tom Breese by stoppage. 13 of his 14 victories have come early, and he averages just 2.24 strikes per minute, but also 2.24 takedowns per 15 minutes of octagon time.
Daukaus is 9-0 and is the reigning Cage Fury Fighting titleholder at middleweight. The Philadelphian has eight submissions and a decision on the indies. The short odds on this fight show the respect he gets from the independent MMA community, as he’s been on the lists of guys that need to get a UFC contract for quite awhile. His decision win over Michael Lombardo in Dana White’s Contender Series didn’t do it, but since he’s finally made it.
The class increase here for Daukaus, especially taking the fight on such short notice, is really difficult. He’s clearly a talented fighter, but heading across the country to take on something like this on short notice might be asking too much. We’ll be with Allen here, though we hope Daukaus does enough to earn another chance to prove his mettle with a full training camp.
