How long will Jonathan Isaac be on the bubble about playing?

Isaac hopes to get a chance to play with his teammates for the first time since January once the NBA resumes.

The Orlando Magic don’t have the best championship odds (+30000, but they could get some help from Jonathan Isaac ahead of the playoffs if he’s healthy.

Isaac suffered a knee injury on January 1 and hasn’t played since. Although Jeff Weltman — Orlando’s president of basketball operations — has said the team is being cautious during the swingman’s recovery period, there’s a chance the two-way wing could be ready for the postseason.

Isaac says he’s optimistic about the opportunity to rejoin the Magic. He believes he’ll make the trip to Disney World ahead of the postseason at the very least, and provided an update Tuesday about his though process regarding a potential return.

“Will I be able to play? I can’t put my finger on it now,” Isaac told “I’m going to continue to work every single day like I’m getting there. “Like I’m going for it. Hopefully, that crosses paths the right way that it’s able to happen. If not, it sucks. But we’ve got time to get back and be completely ready for next season. So I’m excited about it. I’m kind of intrigued about what this bubble is going to be like and how everybody’s going to take it. So I’m looking forward to it.”

Isaac averaged careers highs in points (12.0), rebounds (6.9), steals (1.6), and blocks (2.4) in the 32 games he’s played this season and is also a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions. The Magic will likely have to play the Milwaukee Bucks or Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs, and Isaac’s ability to match up against players Giannis Antetokounmpo and Pascal Siakam could be helpful.
