SHOWDOWN STRATEGY
Jacksonville Jaguars
Gardner Minshew ($9,800) has been a tough quarterback to trust as of late. He’s posted a couple of duds over the course of his last five games, a span he’s averaging 14.3 DKFP in. It’s actually brought his salary down to under $10K, which is been a rare sight to see as quarterbacks in these sims are always at least $10K or more. Luckily for him, this divisional matchup does present a fairly weak secondary to go against. Pierre Désir is their highest-rated corner at 80 followed by Kenny Moore at 79. A.J. Bouye, for reference, is the highest-rated corner in this game at 84. I think this presents a good bounce-back for Minshew and we should be taking advantage of the slight discount.
With a beatable secondary in play, D.J. Chark ($9,000) should be a popular play. His touchdown total is still insanely high at 22 but he’s not been held out of the end zone in four straight games. Not too long ago, Chark was averaging a touchdown a game, which wasn’t sustainable by any means but shows how often he was scoring. Amongst the offensive players in this game, he boasts the best speed at 94. We have a fairly wide gap between Chark and any of the other receivers on this team but James O’Shaughnessy ($7,800) continues to see heavy volume, averaging four receptions for 54.7 yards but only nine touchdowns scored. Like Minshew, however, he’s been struggling to get much going as of late. Dede Westbrook ($6,400) has the speed with his 93 rating but isn’t seeing nearly the volume as the other two, averaging 3.3 receptions, 45 yards and seven touchdowns. His mid-tier price is set correctly, in my opinion, and he’s a viable option to consider. Marquise Lee ($4,600) is a cheaper option who is further down the depth chart but is averaging just 2.3 receptions for 34.6 yards and five touchdowns scored. He’s a bit too iffy for my liking, especially when the Colts present a much cheaper option with heavier production.
Leonard Fournette ($9,600) continues to see a heavy workload and is one of the true RB1 to use in these sims. Fournette is averaging 78.8 rushing yards and 2.3 receptions while scoring a total of 14 touchdowns. I wouldn’t say this is the easiest matchup for him and if I’m paying up for guys like Minshew and Chark, I’m not sure we have a clear path to jamming in Fournette as well. If you can make it work, I would have no problem using him but I’m not crazy about the matchup.

Indianapolis Colts
After treading water for a number of games, Jacoby Brissett ($10,400) finally blew up, scoring 30.3 DKFP against the Browns with 399 passing yards and two touchdowns. It was reminiscent of his early sim season games, when he was posting in the high 20’s and sometimes reaching 30+ DKFP. He’s still been a solid play at the quarterback position but his string of games in the high teens wasn’t exactly worthy of his salary. The Jags secondary is better than the Colts but I wouldn’t call this a slam dunk matchup either. Of the two QB’s, my choice would be Minshew but if you can use both in the flex, I think it could be worth it.
T.Y. Hilton ($10.800) is not only the highest-rated offensive player in this game but he’s also the most expensive. He’s coming off a monster game against the Browns in which he was gaining the most attention from Brissett, making eight catches for 172 yards and a touchdown, good for 34.2 DKFP. His eight receptions tied for this season-high for the third time while his yardage was his second-best. Hilton’s speed is better than any of the corners on the Jags so I’m not worried about his matchup at all. He’ll continue to compete with Eric Ebron ($8,600) for my favorite Colts’ receiver to take, as his volume continues to be high with an average of 5.1 receptions and 60.3 yards per game. Ebron isn’t a reliable source to score but his volume is one of the best in all of Madden. Zach Pascal ($5,600) continues to be a good mid-tier option and scored 20.2 DKFP of his own in the last game. It helped bump his numbers up to 3.5 receptions and 40 yards per game with eight touchdowns. Chester Rogers ($3,200) is one of the best overall values on this team with his 3.2 receptions, 43.2 yards and six touchdowns scored. He’s a very strong option with the number of high priced players you’ll likely be looking to use. Nyheim Hines ($2,600) continues to be the only running back you want to mess with for the Colts. Even in a game where he rushed in for a touchdown the last time out, Marlon Mack ($7,000) only came away with 9.6 DKFP, as he rushed for 36 yards in total. Hines, on the other hand, scored 6 DKFP at a fraction of the cost, rushing for seven yards while making three receptions for 23 yards.
THE OUTCOME
I think this game has the potential to be high scoring so nailing down the right captain is going to be crucial, although that’s basically the case every time. Whenever we have guys who consistently see heavy volume, they’re one of my first choices at captain. Eric Ebron ($12,900) would be that guy for me on the Colts while D.J. Chark ($13,500) is that for the Jaguars. If you want to jam in as many high priced guys as you can, Chester Rogers ($4,800) is a fantastic salary saving option.
Final Score: Jaguars 27, Colts 24
