Nine points separate third-placed Leicester City and Manchester City. They will look to make up some of that ground on Tuesday when they face a resurgent Brighton team. Here are selections to consider from DraftKings’ English Premier League (EPL) soccer Showdown contest, which locks at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Captain
Jamie Vardy ($15,300)
Vardy didn’t have a great return to the Premier League. He was atypically quiet in a 1-1 draw against Watford. He didn’t get too many chances, but he didn’t create too many, either, which is Vardy’s unique selling proposition in the league. However, he is the Premier League’s highest goal-scorer with 19 goals. You can never discount the power of the combination of form, skill and confidence.
Others to consider: James Maddison ($16,500)
High-priced flex options
James Maddison ($11,000)
Maddison should have scored against Watford. He was provided several opportunities, but Watford did well to keep him at bay. Maddison is the designated setpiece-taker for Leicester City, including free kicks just outside the box. He has also averaged 17.3 DKFP, highest among all players in this slate.
Harvey Barnes ($9,400)
Harvey Barnes is quiet underrated in the Premier League. He has nimble feet, fantastic technique and a strong presence down the left flank. In fact, he has already scored six goals and has also chipped in with six assists. That goal participation rate is even higher than James Maddison.
Neal Maupay ($8,400)
Neal Maupay was a nightmare for Arsenal’s defense. His tackle on Bernd Leno first angered Arsenal because a seemingly unnecessary move forced the keeper off the field. He then opened up Arsenal in Brighton’s last possession of the game to score a striker’s goal. He needed just one touch to take Brighton to a 2-1 win. He has already scored nine goals this season.
Others to consider: Pascal Gross ($8,800).
Value flex options
Ben Chilwell ($6,400)
When Chilwell gets the opportunity, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will make the move forward, transitioning into a capable left winger. That’s exactly what he did against Watford to open the scoring. He has already scored three goals with as many assists this season. There is also the additional plausibility of a clean sheet for Leicester.
Lewis Dunk ($4,200)
An important consideration to make for fantasy soccer is to cover as many results as possible in your roster. If Leicester doesn’t score or Brighton proves to be too strong, then owning a defender could make a massive difference. Lewis Dunk, like Chilwell, likes to move up the pitch whenever he can. Like Chilwell, he too has managed to score three goals and three assists this season.
Others to consider: Aaron Mooy ($7,200).
