The Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets will face off in a sim Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest that will be played in the snow. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before tip.

Captain’s Pick

Nikola Jokic ($15,900)

We don’t mess around in these NBA simulation contests. Captaining the strongest option on the board is usually the best choice and in this game it’s a pretty easy pick in The Joker. If only we could be Captaining his slender ass in a real Showdown contest, but alas. Jokic has the best overall expected outcome for this simulation. There isn’t anyone who can touch his triple-double ceiling and for the most part, he’s the safest floor play despite the high price.

Fade of the Game

Gary Harris ($8,400)

Harris has had a down year overall due to injuries and really isn’t producing much in fantasy. In 56 games this season for the Nuggets, Harris is averaging just over 10 points per game. That just isn’t cutting it. His scoring role was reduced and thus his fantasy value has tanked. There are other good ways to spend your money in this Showdown.

Value Picks

Monte Morris ($7,800) — Morris has appeared in every game for the Nuggets this season, mostly off the bench. If we compare Morris’ numbers to Harris’ things aren’t too far off, so I’m good paying this price to grab Morris. He’s going to roll a box score potentially in double-figures. If that’s the case, getting value should be easy.

De’Anthony Melton ($5,400) — Similar to Morris, we have another cheap backup PG who should give us a nice, safe floor play. Over 52 games this season, Melton is averaging just under 20 minutes per contest. He can also provide us with a few assists and really gives us the value we need to spend up on Jokic.
