Report: Victor Oladipo to re-evaluate quad before making decision on season

Pacers G had been working his way back to 100% before the season stopped. Now, he may decide to sit out.

Indiana Pacers G Victor Oladipo will ramp up basketball activities in hopes to re-evaluate his quad, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday. Dipo had just return to action during the regular season before the coronavirus pandemic hit. Now, it looks like the All-Star guard will see how his previously torn quad feels before deciding whether or not to play when the season starts back up in late July.

Oladipo had only played in 13 games this season, starting 10 of them. He’s averaging 13.8 points in just over 25 minutes per game. The Pacers were easing him back into action and it seemed like there was significant rust for Dipo to shake off. The Pacers needed Dipo to step in with the season-ending injury to Jeremy Lamb. It appears the Pacers are relatively healthy otherwise heading into the restart of the season. It still doesn’t mean Oladipo will risk it by going to Florida.

If Oladipo decides to sit out, I don’t see it as that impactful for the Pacers overall. They were working most of the season without him anyway and signed Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason for this reason. The Pacers have decent depth behind Brogdon even with Lamb out. Justin Holiday and Aaron Holiday have played well in the starting lineup and off the bench. Brogdon should be 100% healthy after dealing with injuries. At +10000 to win it all, if Dipo sits out, those odds should shift much.
