UPDATE, 1:50 p.m.: The third fight on the main card has remained lopsided into Saturday afternoon. We’ve seen the DraftKings Sportsbook betting public betting Raquel Pennington big, to the tune of 83% of total bets and 91% of total handle.
Two ranked bantamweight women square off when Raquel Pennington faces Marion Reneau at UFC on ESPN this Saturday at the UFC Apex arena in Las Vegas.
Pennington is 10-8 with losses in three of her last four fights, but in her career she has wins over Jessica Andrade, Bethe Correia, and Miesha Tate. Her 6-5 since joining the UFC has her as the #6 woman in the division, but she only has four stoppages in her career. She deft in stand-up and on the mat, landing 3.42 strikes per minute, as well as 1.16 takedowns per 15 minutes. Right now a whopping 80% of the bets and 94% of the cash is backing her to win tonight.
Reneau is 9-5-1 career and 5-4-1 in the UFC at age 42. Losing her last two fights by unanimous decision to Cat Zingano and Yana Kunitskaya, she hasn’t been in the octagon since March of 2019. She’ll want to fight on her feet, landing 3.46 strikes per minute, but only attempting 0.35 takedowns per full bout. And though she has 20% of the tickets behind her, only 6% of the cash on the fight thinks she can win, which is why the odds have moved against her.
Here are the betting splits at DraftKings Sportsbook for Raquel Pennington vs. Marion Reneau at UFC on ESPN 11 on June 20th:
