Nick Watney withdraws from RBC Heritage after testing positive for Covid-19

The PGA Tour announced on Friday that Nick Watney has withdrawn from the ongoing 2020 RBC Heritage after testing positive for Covid-19.

Watney shot even par in the first round on Thursday. Then, on Friday morning before the tournament resumed, Watney informed the Tour he had symptoms consistent with the novel coronavirus. He consulted a physician and tested positive after being administered a test.

The PGA Tour announced he will go into self-isolation under CDC guidelines. The Tour said he, “traveled privately to Hilton Head Island for the tournament and was not on the PGA TOUR-provided charter flight, [and] tested negative upon arrival. He is the first PGA TOUR member to test positive for Coronavirus.”

Golfweek columnist Eamon Lynch is reporting Watney was with his caddie on the range Friday morning and standing next to Si Woo Kim. A witness said Lynch was on his phone before then leaving the range. UPDATE: Brooks Koepka said he was right next to Watney in the parking lot.
