Josh Gordon applied for reinstatement on Wednesday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Gordon was reinstated to start last season with the Patriots who let him go, presumably because they found out about new violations. He joined the Seahawks and played five more games before getting suspended again toward the end of the season.
His current suspension is indefinite, but the NFL has changed their policy on marijuana this season. The league will be more in the treatment side of the spectrum now, which is likely why they’ve been more lax in dealing with Gordon of late. It truly feels like they want Gordon to succeed and get better instead of just punishing him for whatever substances he is getting popped for.
Pelissero spoke with Gordon’s agent, who detailed why Gordon had yet another relapse last season:

If he does get reinstated, Gordon would be a free agent. He’s no longer the stud fantasy player he was back in 2014 with the Browns and likely would have to win a spot on a team. He showed enough last season to have teams interested and is still 29, giving him a window for production if he can be reinstated and stay clean.
