UPDATE 12:40 p.m.: The Texas athletic department announced 13 football players have tested positive for Covid-19 and are self-isolating. An additional 10 players are asymptomatic and self-isolating. Four other players tested positive for the antibody.

Colleges and universities around the country have started re-opening for their athletes to take part in “voluntary” workouts, and we are starting to see the consequences of such decisions.

Last week, the University of Houston suspended workouts because six players tested positive for Covid-19. Now, the University of Texas is dealing with positive tests. At least six members of the football team have tested positive, and “roughly 15 players” are being quarantined at the moment, according to Longhorns reporter Anwar Richarson.

There is no word yet on what this means for workouts. There is no word on how the university has been handling any workouts in terms of health and safety protocols, but it would not seem to be enough at this point.
