WNBA announces plan for 22-game season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida

The WNBA announced its season restart plan on Monday following negotiations with the players. The league will play a 22-game season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, with play starting in late July.

Teams will report to IMG Academy in early July to begin a training camp period. There is not a specific start date or schedule, but the 22-game season would be followed by a traditional playoff format. Games will air on ESPN, CBS Sports Network, and NBA TV.

The league did not announce it, but over the weekend it was reported the players would receive 100% of their salaries for the shortened season. The players and the league reached a new CBA earlier this year, and the negotiations for this restart appear to have built on the positive momentum from that negotiation.

Prior to the shutdown, the LA Sparks, Phoenix Mercury, and Las Vegas Aces were among the favorites to take home the title in 2020. The Aces have since lost Kelsey Plum to an injury, so new odds will result in a bit of a shakeup.
