DFS considerations for Tyson Nam vs. Zarrukh Adashev

Yet another last-minute replacement on tonight’s card comes in as a big underdog

When Tyson Nam steps in the octagon tonight, he’ll be in his 31st career fight. But his opponent Zarrukh Adashev will be only on his fifth-ever bout, and his first in the UFC. He only accepted this fight as a replacement four days ago. Is that enough to make the price Nam is laying worth it for your DFS roster?

DraftKings DFS Values

Tyson Nam: $8,000
Zarrukh Adashev: $7,700

Nam is -136 on the money line, with Adashev the underdog at +110

Usually when a UFC roster fighter gets a last-minute replacement from the independent circuit, they’re a much bigger favorite than Nam is. But he’s lost his only two UFC fights by decision, and at age 36 he needs this win. He has 11 stoppages, 10 by KO, in his MMA career.

There’s just not a ton of data on Adashev, who lost his first career fight in 2015 but has won three since returning to the ring in October of 2018. He missed weight for this fight by 2.5 pounds, but that can make sense for a fighter that had to cut from his usual featherweight at 145 down to 135 in just a few days.

Picking the winner here will be very helpful as both fighters come in under par value and can keep your roster costs down. We’ll go with Nam as he’s had longer to prepare and has shown knockout power in the past. But this is a key fight for all DFS players on tonight’s card.
