DFS considerations for Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori

The biggest bad blood on the UFC Fight Night card tonight is the co-main event. But is there fantasy value?

Two fighters that have had some bad blood between them from a cancelled fight in Jacksonville face off when Karl Roberson takes on Marvin Vettori tonight in Las Vegas as part of UFC Fight Night on ESPN+

DraftKings DFS Values

Karl Roberson: $7,400
Marvin Vettori: $8,800

Vettori is -225 on the money line, with Roberson the underdog at +175

This one got personal when Roberson pulled out in Jacksonville a month ago when this bout was scheduled to take place. But Roberson got rhabdomyolysis as part of his weight cut and ended up in the hospital. “I’m going to make him pay” has been Vettori’s recent reaction, and he was the first fighter to get on the scales during the weigh-in yesterday.

And then Roberson missed his weigh in by 4.5 pounds. Vettori instantly took to Instagram to get even more shots in, though these are funnier than what he said to him face-to-face last month.

Roberson is 9-2 in his career with six wins by stoppage. He’s 4-2 in the UFC, winning his last two fights by split decision over Wellington Turman and a choke by Roman Kopylov.

Vettori is 14-4-1 overall, 4-2-1 in the UFC. His first fight in the black octagon was a submission over Alberto Emiliano Pereira in 2016, but he’s gone the distance in all six bouts since. Though he’s clearly leading with emotion here against a fighter that doesn’t seem fully prepared, does that translate into fantasy points?

If you think Vettori can channel his anger into an early stoppage, there’s of course value here. But he’s now giving up a bit of weight he didn’t expect (we know fighters rehydrate, but that’s still noticeable), and will have to channel his frustrations with his opponent into a big win.

Vettori is the only side to play here, and maybe even he shouldn’t be on all your rosters.
