The featured simulated basketball contest on DraftKings for Wednesday afternoon is between the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks. Here, we’ll go over how to approach lineup construction for the fantasy basketball contest.
Normally we’re able to get a bit of a discount on the top-priced studs in NBA sim Showdowns. That isn’t exactly the case in this contest between the Pistons and Bucks when it comes to The Greek Freak. Giannis Antetokounmpo ($18,900) is going to cost you over $3K more than the next expensive player in Khris Middleton.
It’s a big price to pay but one that may be necessary. Actually, Giannis is probably a lock in a contest that features little-to-no good options. I can maybe see a scenario in which we Captain someone cheaper, say Christian Wood ($12,000) or even Luke Kennard ($6,300). Wood really came on for the Pistons in the second half of the season and Kennard was performing well before injuries derailed him early on in 2019-20.
So because there are a lot of players who lack a high ceiling in this contest, we can sort of fit in all of them. Giannis, Middleton and Derrick Rose ($9,000) are the players with the best floor/ceiling combo. In order to fit in all three of them, we’re going to need some value.
Kennard is still a good play at $4,200 at FLEX. For some reason Blake Griffin is $1,600? Griffin is worth a flier simply because he has some normal box scores mixed in with bad performances before injuries set in this season. Sekou Doumbouya is only going to cost you $1,400 as well. He’s got a few really solid fantasy performances this season in limited action in the starting lineup.
