NASCAR is back for its third midweek race of the 2020 season restart, and they’ll be having a one-off at Martinsville Speedway. The Cup Series is running the Blue-Emu 500 Maximum Pain Relief 500 Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. before all three racing series head to Homestead-Miami Speedway.
There are a host of betting and DFS options to consider for the Wednesday evening race, and betting splits can help inform decisions for both. NASCAR is a tougher sport for betting and daily fantasy given how easily a crash can ruin even the best driver’s day. That being said, if we assume no crashes since we generally can’t predict them, betting splits can help provide some insight.
Here are the top ten drivers in terms of handle and bets heading into tonight’s Blue-Emu 500.
Martin Truex Jr: 18% handle, 12% bets
Kyle Busch: 15% handle, 11% bets
Chase Elliott: 13% handle, 10% bets
Jimmie Johnson: 8% handle, 8% bets
Alex Bowman: 7% handle, 7% bets
Joey Logano: 6% handle, 7% bets
Denny Hamlin: 6% handle, 8% bets
Brad Keselowski: 6% handle, 5% bets
Kevin Harvick: 6% handle, 6% bets
Ryan Blaney: 4% handle, 4% bets
It’s not surprising that betting favorites are where the money is going. There’s not a lot of daily fantasy value either, but if you want to avoid the top end of the salary chart, you could look at Blaney ($8,400) or Bowman ($8,900). You can average $8,333 per driver, so rolling with them instead of a Jimmie Johnson ($12,500) or Denny Hamlin ($11,900) would allow you to raise up the back end of your roster a little bit. It’s not a ton of value, but it can help squeeze out every last cent of your salary cap.
