The PGA Tour is back this weekend with the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s the first tournament on the tour since play was suspended back in March during the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship. With golf back, that means a DraftKings Sportsbook pick pool is up for grabs. Here we’ll be going over each pick and how to approach the pool.
Charles Schwab Challenge Picks Pool
Who will have the best finishing position?
- Rory McIlroy
- Jon Rahm
- Justin Thomas
- 2 or more Tie
So if we look at the odds, it goes Rory +750, Rahm +1150 and JT +1650 to win the CSC. Forget ties, ties are the worst. Rory will be the trendiest pick in this pool more or less, so going with Rahm or JT is where the value lies. Rahm seems like a safe bet for a top 5 if we look at those odds. Rory at +200 and Rahm at +250 to top 5.
Who will have the best finishing position?
- Brooks Koepka
- Rickie Fowler
- Webb Simpson
- 2 or more Tie
Simpson is apparently going to be the chalkiest of plays in DFS on DraftKings. With that in mind and his +2200 odds of winning — fourth best — Simpson could be the chalk pick here. It may be good chalk to eat however considering how hot he was heading into March. During the fall swing, Simpson pretty much top 10’d every tournament from the Shriners to the Phoenix Open in February. I like Koepka as the contrarian choice here.
Who will have the best finishing position?
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Xander Schauffele
- Dustin Johnson
- 2 or more Tie
DeChambeau has the best odds to win it all and has good odds of finishing top 10. I could see DJ struggling after the long break. After back-to-back 2nd-place finishes, he’s failed to place in the top 10 in five straight tourneys. Schauffele by default may end up being overlooked here.
Who will have the best finishing position?
- Patrick Reed
- Scottie Scheffler
- Sungjae Im
- 2 or more Tie
Scheffler I was high on coming into this tournament and I think he can make some noise. During the fall swing, Scheffler had a few top 5 finishes on the tour at the RSM Classic, The American Express and the Bermuda Championship. He’s got decent odds at +3500 to win it all and at +800 looks good to top 10.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Matt Kuchar
- Marc Leishman
- Justin Rose
- 2 or more Tie
Justin Rose was kind of a train wreck before the break. The time off should be good for him but there’s concern with recent form. Leishman and Kuchar we have zero concerns. Leishman won the Farmers Insurance Open back in January and finished second at the Arny Palmy Invitational in March before the pandemic got bad. It’s worth noting Rose won the CSC back in 2018 and this course usually favors returning champions.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Tony Finau
- Jordan Spieth
- Gary Woodland
- 2 or more Tie
I really like Spieth in this contest because of what he’s done at Colonial. He’s not far removed from winning this tournament back in 2016. Like I mentioned above, the course favors returning champions and Spieth has a pretty solid floor with that in mind. Tony Finau is a bit risky, so I’d say if you aren’t into Spieth, Woodland is the way to go here. Since October, Woodland has four top 10s.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Matthew Fitzpatrick
- Shane Lowry
- Collin Morikawa
- 2 or more Tie
So this group is weird. If we just look at the odds to win this tournament, Morikawa is at +3500 whereas Lowry and Fitzpatrick are down the list. Fitz is at +6000 and Lowry +7000. So really, we should see Morikawa be trendy as the pick here. He’s priced much higher in DFS as well. Morikawa rarely misses a cut and has the potential to win this thing.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Kevin Na
- Daniel Berger
- Jason Day
- 2 or more Tie
Kevin Na is the reigning champion at the Charles Schwab Challenge, so of course he’ll get a lot of love here. Na (+5500) and Day (+6000) are both close in odds to win it all and Na is +500 to finish top 10. I’d go with Na here and not think too much.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Ryan Palmer
- Viktor Hovland
- Abraham Ancer
- 2 or more Tie
Ancer is another golfer getting some love from DFS circles, so we can chalk him up as a strong pick here. He’s had a lot of great finishes on the Euro Tour and in WGC play. All three have the same odds to win and are even throughout Sportsbook. Hovland is risky here since his odds of finishing higher than the other two seem lower.
Who will have the best finish position?
- Bubba Watson
- Billy Horschel
- Kevin Kisner
- 2 or more Tie
For some reason, this pool has separated a lot of former champions at this course. Kisner won at Colonial back in 2017. Kisner was bad at the Arny Palmy at the beginning of March, but not so sure we need to worry about that little guy.
