UPDATE: How the public is betting Agapova vs. Cifers
In one of the more chaotic slapped-together fights even by UFC standards, it looks like Mariya Agapova vs. Hannah Cifers will fight this Saturday at UFC Fight Night on ESPN in Las Vegas. Agapova was was originally scheduled to battle Melissa Gatto, but the Brazilian Gatto can’t get in the country right now along with other several other fighters from her country, and is looking for a bout on one of the four Fight Island cards.
Cifers fought just two weeks ago at strawweight in the same venue, and lost to Mackenzie Dern via kneebar at 2:36 of the first round. Now she’s moving up 10 lbs. to flyweight (unless a catchweight is established??) and fighting again two weeks later.
Whether she ever went home to Wake Forest, North Carolina or just stayed in Las Vegas we’re not sure, but she comes in as an underdog in some really tough circumstances. She’s 10-5 in her career, and 2-3 in the UFC.
The 23-year-old Agapova comes from Kazakhstan, a country with a rich combat sports tradition, and is making her UFC debut. She lost a unanimous decision in Dana White’s Contender Series to Tracy Cortez in July of last year, but has two first-round stoppages in Invicta since to earn her full-roster status. The American Top Team member out of Florida is 8-1 as an MMA pro.
Here are the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for Mariya Agapova vs. Hannah Cifers at UFC Fight Night on ESPN on June 13th:
Money line odds
Mariya Agapova: -230
Hannah Cifers: +180
