The Los Angeles Lakers are targeting May 16 for the re-opening of practice facilities, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported late Wednesday. The League is allowing teams within cities with less strict stay-at-home policies to return to practice on May 8, though most teams are waiting a bit longer. Shams calls the situation fluid, so this is not a definite date for the Lakers, just a tentative one.
The Hawks announced earlier Wednesday that they are looking at next week to re-open things in Georgia, where stay-at-home restrictions have been loosened. Atlanta was among the teams most concerned about practice facilities re-opening too soon when the League initially announced May 1. That date was pushed back and now teams are monitoring the situation to see when it will be safest.
Shams is also saying now that it will be a total of six assistant coaches/player personnel who will be permitted at the individual workouts. No more than four people at a time.
