We’ve got professional baseball, we’ve got a primer for the Korea Baseball Organization, and we’ve got DFS prices. Welcome back professional sports!
The KBO will have six games a week on ESPN and ESPN2, and you’ll see DFS Showdown matchups for all of them. It’s a great way to learn about a league abroad, and a chance to make some dollars if you dive in with both feet learning about the league. This game will be early Wednesday morning on ESPN2 at 5:30 am EST.
Here are some lineup recommendations for the second night of the Korea Baseball Organization between the Doosan Bears and the LG Twins. Keep in mind your Captain costs 1.5 times his standard salary but scores 1.5 times the standard fantasy points.
Our two pitchers scheduled to face off are:
Doosan: Young-ha Lee (R): 17-4, 3.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 5 K/9
Twins: Chan-Kyu Lim (R): 3-5, 4.97 ERA, 1.466 WHIP, 7.3 K/9
Captain’s Picks
Jose Fernandez, Doosan Bears: $15,900
Fernandez and the Bears only scored one run against lefty Cha Woo-chan yesterday but tonight they get a poor righty taking on a lefty laden lineup. Fernandez is a lefty, who hit all 13 of his home runs against righties last season and upped his average from .311 against lefties to .353 against righties. He also led the team yesterday with two hits and gets a good matchup tonight.
Jae Hwan Kim, Doosan Bears: $13,200
Kim hit a hime run yesterday against lefty Cha Woo-chan, but he’s been much better against righties, hitting .305 compared to .243 against lefties and most of his power comes against righties, as 10 of his 15 home runs last season were against southpaws. Stacking lefties against Lim should be the most advantageous for this showdown.
Utility Picks
Young Ha Lee, Doosan Bears: $11,600
Lee put up great win numbers last season with 17, but his underlying numbers were a bit more average. The Bears offense helped him out and in this matchup the same should be true. He doesn’t strike out many, but only allowed five home runs last season. We can’t expect many strikeouts either, so his upside is innings and a win, as he’s had just one complete game.
Hyun Soo Kim, LG Twins: $10,200
Kim had two hits and three RBIs yesterday, including a home run against righty Raul Alcantara. The lefty has been one of the best in the league for a long while. Even in a down year last season, Kim hit .339 against righties and with his hot start, I like him to put numbers up against Lee.
