The featured simulated basketball contest on DraftKings for Wednesday afternoon is between the Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets. Here, we’ll go over how to approach lineup construction for the fantasy basketball contest.

Captain’s Picks

P.J. Tucker ($4,500)

You’re probably thinking this pick is crazy with all the big names in this contest. Well, in order to play all of them we’re going to need to save some salary somewhere. We can do this in two ways. Finding some low-ball value in the FLEX with somebody around $1K. We can also throw Tucker in at Captain as the cheapest player with the highest ceiling, effectively the top true value.

Obviously if you aren’t into that idea, take your pick between Giannis Antetokounmpo ($18,900), James Harden ($19,200) and Russell Westbrook ($15,000).

FLEX Options

Khris Middleton ($8,600)

Middleton is my favorite UTIL play out of the crowd. I feel like he’s got enough pop in some of his box scores to easily give us 5x value at this price. He’s also rocking a few games in which he went off with Giannis hurt, so the chance of hitting the lotto is in play. Middleton is a good mid-range play if you’re thinking of a more balanced approach.

Marvin Williams ($1,600)

Once upon a time Williams wasn’t on the Bucks and he was on the Charlotte Hornets. Those box scores aren’t that much better from his production in Milwaukee, which is a small sample. But those box scores are pretty enticing at this price — near basement. Williams is the type of play we can use to fit in Harden, Giannis and/or Westbrook.
