UPDATE: Latest odds, betting splits for Hardy-De Castro

In the lesser heavyweight bout on the main card of UFC 249, former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy will face fellow newcomer Yorgan De Castro in a battle that isn’t likely to go the distance.

Greg Hardy played six years in the NFL, finishing his career with the Cowboys in 2015. In 2014 he was arrested for throwing his girlfriend into furniture, strangling her, and threatening to kill her. He was sentenced to a suspended 60-day jail sentence, but that was overturned on appeal when the victim refused to testify again. In 2016 he was arrested on cocaine charges in Texas. He has a 5-2 record, with his losses being one by disqualification for kneeing an opponent while on the ground, and once by unanimous decision.

De Castro made his UFC debut last October against Justin Tafa, and knocked him out in 130 seconds. He comes from a kickboxing background before finding MMA, and is a native of Cape Verde, a small archipelago off the coast of Africa. His 6-0 career record includes five knockouts, reaching a decision just once in his brief career. He’s five inches shorter than his opponent and has six inches less of reach, but both fighters are considered strikers.
