Best lineup strategy for Bayern Munich-Fortuna Düsseldorf Showdown

Joshua Kimmich’s passing makes him a sneaky captain’s candidate for Saturday’s matchup between Bayern Munich and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Bayern Munich has done nothing but improve its hold of the Bundesliga since it resumed play earlier this month and will take on Fortuna Dusseldorf Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET. DraftKings will have DFS contests available for the match, and we break down ideal Showdown strategies below. You can set your lineups here.

Captain’s Picks

Erik Thommy, F, Fortuna Düsseldorf ($10,800)

Bayern is one of the best defensive teams in the Bundesliga, so playing contrarian by captaining Thommy could pay off in a big way. Although he’s only scored one goal since the league resume play, he’s averaging 13.9 fantasy points over the course of his last three games. He’s second on his team in goals (6) and is the leading assist man.

Joshua Kimmich, D, Bayern Munich ($11,400)

Everyone is going to roster Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller, but Kimmich has been Bayern’s most productive player since the Bundesliga’s restart. While the goal he scored in his last match was huge, his accurate passing raises his floor and really makes him stand out. He’s completed less than 60 accurate passes once in his last 10 games and has reached 80 five times during that span. He’s willing to attack and play crosses in as well.

Flex Plays

Matthias Zimmerman, D, Fortuna Düsseldorf ($4,600)

Bayern has the clearly superior attack, which means Zimmerman should get plenty of work. The fullback should get plenty of opportunities to win tackles and can also get forward and play some balls into the box. You need to find value in a game where the most productive players will likely be on Bayern’s side.

Serge Gnabry, M, Bayern Munich ($10,200)

Düsseldorf gives up more points to midfielders than any other Bundesliga team. Gnabry hasn’t been in good form lately, but this will be one of his best chances to get back on track. His well-rounded game has helped him score 11 goals and tally nine assists this season. He recorded a goal and an assist his last time out against Düsselforf.
