eNASCAR iRacing Pro Series: Odds for Dover International Speedway Race on Sunday

The virtual NASCAR drivers head to The Monster Mile for the penultimate iRacing event before getting on the actual asphalt again.

Even with an actual return to the track in sight, the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series still continues this weekend and next as the racers begin to get ready for what will be a packed schedule on the asphalt and concrete beginning May 17th.

This week the racing remains virtual, and will simulate Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. Right across the street from Delaware State University and attached to Dover Downs Casino, it’s one of the best tracks in NASCAR for fans as they can see the entire course in a stadium-like atmosphere.

But this week everyone will be watching the action from home, including the competitors. This race is scheduled for 150 laps on a track where position matters more than most and passing is at a premium.

Here’s some of our best bets for this virtual race this weekend:

William Byron (+160)

Byron’s race experience in this format is just too much to overcome for the field in the long run. He’s led led 327 laps across the five races, and expect Byron to be at the top of any points list put together here. He was handicapped last week at Talladega by the randomness of used-to-be restrictor plate racing, as well as having to start at the back of the field after winning the week before. With those impediments removed, he should be minus money here. Take the overlay.

Timmy Hill (+600)

We hate eating so much chalk here with the top two drivers off the board, but what we’ve learned in the iRacing so far is that the shorter tracks favor the skill of the drivers more consistently. Hill has the best average finish in the five series races at 4.0, has a win and two seconds in the series, and getting more than what you bought in back at +150 for third has value.

Down the board

Ryan Preece (+1200)

Of the 10 drivers to compete in all five races, Preece is third in average finish at 7.6. The driver of the #37 Camaro has plenty of value here, and his odds for Top 3 at +300 seem like a steal.

Alex Bowman (+1800)

Someone want to explain how a guy with an average finish of 9.6 and a series win last week at Talladega is +1800 here? We like the price to win better than the -122 for a Top 10 or a +450 for a Top 3. If there’s a wreck at the front of the field late, Bowman can certainly sneak in and take the checkered flag.
