EPL to restart June 17th with Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United & Manchester City vs. Arsenal

The best football league in the world shall return to play in three weeks, and though the title might be secured, there’s still plenty to play for

The English Premier League season is set to restart on 17 June with Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United and Manchester City vs. Arsenal, the BBC has learned.

The two matches are the games-in-hand not played already due to cup tie rescheduling. All teams will play Round 30 of the 38-match campaign from June 19-21 on a fixture list that has yet to be released.

There are still 92 matches to be played, and on the restart it will have been exactly 100 days since the Premier League was suspended on March 13. The top six spots in the EPL will play European football next season, with relegation set for the bottom three teams. In a more compact table than usual, there are just 16 points separating the drop from midweek football next season, so most teams will need to feature their best talent to assure themselves of their goals to finish the campaign.

Liverpool are certain champions with a 25 point lead on second-place Manchester City, despite the Citizens having a game in hand. Just six points from the nine matches remaining to be played will give The Reds their first domestic league championship since 1990.
