The Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons will face off in a Madden sim Thursday at 4:00 p.m. ET. We break down the ideal Showdown lineup strategy for the DFS contest that will be played in the snow. You can set your lineup and play in the DraftKings contest before kickoff.
Devonta Freeman ($12,900)
The Dolphins defense isn’t much better in Madden than in real life. The Falcons offense on the other hand, well, it’s pretty consistent. Freeman is among those consistent options and he’s in a group of RB1’s who can throw up a game with 3 TDs. If that’s the type of ceiling game we can get out of Freeman, then yes, I want him at Captain against the Dolphins.
Mike Gesicki ($11,400)
You’re going to want to save some salary at Captain. Paying up in this Showdown contest doesn’t seem like the way to go. Another mid-range option is Gesicki, who has over 1K yards and three TDs in sim land over about the course of a full season. He isn’t a threat in the red zone but his ceiling isn’t hurt too much. Gesicki has three games of 8 or more receptions this season.
Albert Wilson ($5,200)
Stars and Scrubs could be a trendy lineup strategy in this one. Not to say Wilson is a scrub. He doesn’t really meet that definition right now at least. Wilson has at least 10.2 fantasy points in three straight simulations. That sample of games includes 14 receptions and 222 receiving yards. The Falcons secondary is vulnerable enough and I think Wilson could go overlooked a bit in the Showdown contest.
Patrick Laird ($1,000)
There’s really no reason not to play Laird in any Showdown so long as his price stays this low. He’s averaging 6.1 fantasy points per game. That’s 6x value on his salary almost guaranteed. After a string of mediocrity, Laird has done pretty well over his past five games. He’s got nine receptions in his past three games, so on receptions alone we’re getting value back at basement pricing.
