FC Schalke hasn’t been good since the Bundesliga returned on May 16th, but will attempt to snap a three-game losing streak Wednesday against Fortuna Düsseldorf at 2:30 p.m. ET. We break down ideal picks for Showdown contests on DraftKings below, and you can set your lineups here.

Captain’s Picks

Daniel Caligiuri, M/F, Schalke ($12,900)

Although Schalke is eighth in the standings, it is the underdog against 16th place Dusseldorf. That mean’s Schalke players are available for discount prices. Two of Schalke’s starting midfielders are out with injuries, making Calgiuri an important part of both the attack and defense. Dusseldorf gives up for fantasy points than any other team in the Bundesliga.

Kenan Karaman, M/F, Dusseldolf ($10,200)

Karaman has been very productive in his 13 games with Dusseldorf. He’s tallied five goals with one assist. He’s also scoured four goals and his last four games while eclipsing 20 fantasy points twice. It appears like he’ll be the focus of his team’s offense on a considerable number of attacks as a starting forward.

Flex Plays

Erik Thommy, M/F, Dusseldorf ($11,800)

Thommy is an expensive flex play, but does it all for Dusseldorf. He’s second on the team in goals (4) and has a team-high four assists. He has the highest DKFP average (11.7) in the contest and has the versatility to contribute in a variety of ways to raise his ceiling.

Bastian Oczipka, D, Schalke ($7,200)

Oczipka is a defender, but is also his team’s lead assist man. The left back is able to get forward and play balls into the teammates for scores. He’s done so four times this season. His DKFP average (9.9) is higher than any other defenders. His mix of playmaking gives him a solid floor, and his affordable price tag makes him even more desirable.
