RB Leipzig will get a chance to move closer to second place in the Bundesliga standings if it beats Hertha Wednesday. The two teams will face off at 12:30 p.m. ET, and DraftKings will have a Showdown contest available. We break down ideal picks here, and you can set your lineups here.
Captain’s Picks
Timo Werner, F, Leipzig ($18,300)
Leipzig got of to a slow start when the Bundesliga restarted by tying SC Freiburg 1-1 on May 16th, but its offense got back on track in its last match. Werner scored a hat trick in his team’s 5-0 victory over mains, bringing his season total to 24. Only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has scored more this year. A scorer as prolific as Werner will also be hard to pass on as a captain. He scored twice in a 4-2 victory against Hertha earlier this year.
Matheus Cunha, F, Hertha ($10,800)
The best strategy for this game is to stack players fro the more talented Leipzig side, and Cunha is a cheaper play to save you salary for them in flex spots. He’s scored a goal and tallied double-digits in fantasy points for four straight games. Even though Leipzig’s defense is tough, he should be able to put some shots on goal and draw some fouls at the very least.
Flex Plays
Marcel Halstenberg, D, Leipzig ($6,400)
Hertha gives up the fifth most fantasy points to defenders in the Bundesliga and Halstenberg is one of Leipzig’s most involved defenders. He’s a threat to put shots on goal and is also an active passer who can string together a large amount of accurate passes. You have to find value if somewhere if you go with a Leipzig-heavy lineup.
Peter Gulacsi, GK, Leipzig ($7,000)
Leipzig has given up fewer goals (27) than any other team in the Bundesliga, making its goalkeeper a desirable target. He might not save a ton of shots, but he has a good chance to record a shutout and get a win bonus.
